Gable Mask of Ancestor Spirit, Middle Sepik River, Papua New Guinea. This very dramatic mask once resided in the gables of a men's house, and is approximately 50 years old. Paint is of native manufacture while trimmed at the top with cassowary feathers and grass material as a beard. Height is 30.5" and width 17" $2200. |
Archetectural Forms. The Toba Batak People of Northcentral Sumatra are famous for their carving. Within our collection are numerous large pieces from colorful old house fronts.
